Alive at The Southern Welcomes Digital Release April 23rd

We here at Ghostland are bloated with excitement to offer to you our newest release, Alive at the Southern, an album recorded live in Charlottesville, VA where we shared the stage with Shovels and Rope back in November of 2012. The fruits herein were born before a sold-out house and most were pulled from our latest, record, Sweat Like the Old Days, also available on Bandcamp. The song "Broken Spirit," heard here in recorded format for the first time, will make its official debut on our upcoming album, to be recorded this summer with the inimitable Bill Moriarty.

We realize money ain't what it used to be, so we'll be making this a digital-only, pay-what-you-can affair, starting April 23rd. Any denomination you can think of will work: that means anything between $.01 and $infinity will be accepted. Every penny gleaned from these sales will be put toward funding the aforementioned recording of our next album, so know that any extra infinity you could throw in will go a long, long way.

Spring Is Springing, we're hitting the road

Spring is wafting; can you smell the hope in the air? Although it still seems far, far away as my gaze catches scenes of mid-March snowflakes through the window, whirling around the front yard like so many aimless, wind-swept things. That has been no concern for us the past few days, however, as we dried the Alabama sweat on our brows with open Sprinter windows following the cancellation of our Legends show in Boone, when Mother Nature chose to spew up mounds and pounds of snow over the roadways. Thanks to Birmingham and Mobile for hosting tired and hungry travelers, and to Banditos, the band that drew in many new faces!

The next couple of weeks will see us in Columbus, GA at The Loft, as well as our return to Charleston, SC for Spring Jam, where we will join friends Sol Driven Train, The Corduroy Road, and The Dirty Guv'nahs. We're taking it easy until we hit it like vagabonds in April, kicking off a grand Nor'easter across New England with double-threats at The Blind Tiger in Greensboro (April 5) and Cat's Cradle in Carrboro (April 6), with our friends The Spring Standards from NYC on both shows, and Greensboro's own Roseland joining us at the Blind Tiger.

After that, you can find us slinking across the Eastern seaboard in VA, MD, MA, NYC, VT, CT, PA (with many a show joining up with Philly's Toy Soldiers, and another date in NYC with The Spring Standards), until we bring it back home with a stop-off in Thomas, WV at the Purple Fiddle (April 20).

Some anticipation has been brewing regarding the live album we promised a couple months ago. Well, we just got word that it will be mixed and mastered as soon as possible (we got a guy, you know) and if all goes to plan, should be up for grabs online in a digital-only release very, very soon. Apologies for the delay; winter slows everything down by the tenth degree.

Asheville Jan 19, New Live Album + 2013 Tour Dates

While the many members of Congress toss ninja grappling hooks around and try to pull us from the cliff, we hope everybody's holiday season was jammed up with the merriest of merries! We just dusted our britches from our deep south tour and polished off some demos for the next record in beloved Asheville, NC, where we'll next be returning to the stage January 19th at The Grey Eagle Tavern. You can really get a lot of things done when you lock yourself in a dark room for two days, living only on bananas and deer jerky. We are thankful for dehydrators.

In other news, we are working on getting a new live album together! Back in November, we played to a sold-out house at The Southern in Charlottesville, VA, where we opened for Shovels and Rope... and we got it on tape! So, now we're gonna get it to you. It'll be digital-only for now, but it's the sounds that count, right? Release date and more info will be coming soon. Stay tuned.

Other than that, we will be hibernating until the bears restart their hunting season. We'll see you again in late February! Check out a bunch of new tour dates here. (and that's just the start of them.)

Florida in December; a Message From Matthew

We're fresh off of our tour from the mild and temperate North; many thanks to Minneapolis' First Avenue (and by extension, Prince) for having us out! We were truly blown away and honored to play for 974 new fans in a totally new city. Now we're donning our tackiest Hawaiian shirts for our upcoming trip down South in our latest effort to make Florida truly sick of us. Ahh, what fond memories lurch back into my brain as I recall our last Winter tour throughout Florida. Driving halfway to the Keys, only to turn back when it started raining; filming ourselves eating chili burgers to the soundtrack of George Harrison's All Things Must Pass. Now that was truly mild and temperate!

Be sure to check the schedule and get your associates out for this will be the last time you see us before we take off some much needed personal time. Why? We've got to write the next album, sillies! We've already got this much material (raises hand to neck), and we're all this excited about it (raises hand to chin)!
